Description:

Clifton Oates’ patron is inexorably tied to the The Adventurers.

It is usually represented as jet-black darkness, taking the form of tendrils or sometimes a more humanoid shape. When it speaks, its voice is resounding and is intermingled with the agonizing groans of countless others.

Its motivations are unknown.

Bio:

Initially thought to have possessed the scholar Clifton Oates in an old tomb where his mentor was killed, it was later suggested that the possession might have taken place much earlier.

This may or may not have occurred in the Oates’ family home, years before Clifton left to study under the tutelage of Professor Reinhart.

After Clifton’s death, inky blackness spread out from his corpse, darkening the skies. Tendrils of darkness reached out and engulfed all those present.
